Description 

The 2018 ASME Ralph Coats Roe Lecture will be given by SpaceX President and Chief Operating Officer Gwynne Shotwell.

The title of her lecture is ďLaunching Our Future.Ē

The lecture will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 15 at the James L. Allen Center on the campus of Northwestern University.

The Northwestern University student section will be hosting a networking session with food and drinks beginning at 5:00 PM.

The location for the networking session will be "The Willenís Wing Atrium.

If you would like to attend, you must register before Thursday, November 8 at:  Roe Lecture .

There is no charge to attend the event. Free parking is available on the Northwestern campus after 4:00 p.m.

Ms. Shotwell is receiving the Roe Medal for outstanding leadership and innovation for space commercialization, for technical contributions to the design of reusable rockets, and for the promotion of STEM education.
Ms. Shotwell earned her bachelorís degree in mechanical engineering and masterís degree in applied mathematics from Northwestern University.

The Ralph Coats Roe Medal, established in 1972, recognizes an outstanding contribution toward a better public understanding and appreciation of the engineerís worth to contemporary society. Past Lecturers have included Carl Sagan, Bill Nye, and Astronauts Jan Davis and Bonnie Dunbar.
